ERE Oppositional Group Database
Welcome to the Empathy and the Religious "Enemy" website for oppositional group data. The ERE project seeks to approach some of the most controversial religious groups in the United States through non-judgmental, critical-empathic interactions. The project seeks to learn about the studied groups’ communal norms and interpersonal dynamics, relations and engagement with outsiders, lesser known religious beliefs and practices, the experiences and empathy of their adherents, and their capacity for change. The goal is to generate productive conversations that foster greater understanding of the humanity and lived experiences of the “oppositional Other.”
This website is a living database of controversial and oppositional religious groups that fit into the scope of the ERE project. Have a group in mind? Learn about our criteria and how to submit a group here.
